Georgia

Welcome to the Georgia home page for the 2014 National Corvette Museum Caravan. I'm Mitch Talley and have been chosen to be the state captain. While I don't have any experience with Caravans, I'm hoping my overwhelming enthusiasm for Corvettes and a willingness to work hard with the help of other volunteers will more than make up for that inexperience.

If you'd like to take part in helping to plan the Georgia Caravan, please contact me at or and leave a message and I'll get back to you quickly. Together we can make this a fun event. I'm open to all ideas you might have for making this a fun and memorable event! I'm hoping many of us can meet in the Atlanta area for an initial planning session towards the end of May. Also, if you plan to be at the National Corvette Museum Bash this year, I'll be there on April 26 and 27 and would love to meet you!

Good news for the Georgia Caravan. We will be gathering along with members of the Florida Caravan to begin the Caravan to Bowling Green on Thursday, Aug. 28, 2014 beginning at 7 a.m. at I-75 Exit 278, Glade Road in Acworth. If you are planning to stay overnight around Exit 278 on Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2014, we have the Acworth travel and tourism officials working on some discount rates for hotels. More word on that as soon as we find out more details from these fine folks. We plan to leave Exit 278 beginning at 8 a.m., with the last group to be out by 9 a.m. We will then travel north on I-75, stopping for a restroom and gas break in South Pittsburg, Tenn., on I-24 before heading out for Bowling Green.

Special Update on Hotel Accommodations in Acworth

We will be leaving from Acworth on the morning of Aug. 28. Our friends with the Acworth Parks, Recreation and Community Resource Department have helped us get a special rate at a motel in Acworth in case you want to spend the night on Aug. 27 and get an easier start when we leave from Acworth on the morning of Aug. 28. Kim Watt, Tourism Director/Recreation Coordinator in Acworth, talked with the general manager at the Best Western, 5155 Cowan Rd Acworth, GA 30101 and set up a special group rate.

Here's the info you will need.
Price: $59.99 plus taxes
Date: August 27, 2014
Reservations must be made by July 27, 2014. The whole hotel has been blocked for this reservation, but on July 27, they will open up any unreserved rooms and sell them.

If you're planning on spending the night of Aug. 27, 2014 in Acworth, Ga., at the Best Western to be ready to leave early on the morning of Aug. 28, you might want to book your room as soon as possible. Here's an update we received from management at the Best Western last week: "We are already getting many reservations for that day. I think at this rate, we will be sold out within a month. Since we will be booked up so early on, I would like to add in the condition that the $59.99 is valid until end of this month (September 2013)."
