North Carolina, South Carolina & Virginia

ATTENTION CORVETTE ENTHUSIASTS:

Are you ready for another caravan? If you missed the 50th Anniversary of Corvette caravan in 2003, and/or the 15th National Corvette Museum (NCM) Anniversary caravan in 2009, here is your chance to join other Corvette friends for the 20th Anniversary of the National Corvette Museum by participating in the 2014 Corvette Caravan.

Mark your calendars for August 23 - 31, 2014. The 2014 Carolinas and Virginia (C&VA) Corvette Caravan festivities will begin in Concord, NC on August 23, and after some fun-filled events, we will make our trek to the NCM in Bowling Green, KY. Registration is required - see information below.

My name is Frank Sancineto. My wife Laura and I were captains for the 2003 North and South Carolina Caravan and the 2009 Carolinas and Virginia Caravan. We had such a great time and met so many wonderful people we now call friends, that we are going to be Regional Caravan Captains again for this trip.

Those of you in the Tidewater area or Southwest Virginia, we'll meet you in Concord, NC. For those of you in the Richmond area, we'll meet you in Chester, VA at Heritage Chevrolet.

For the rest of you, please reply to this email with:

1) Your confirmation that you are still planning to participate,
2) Your Caravan departure meeting location, date and time, and
3) The name of the Caravan Captain at your departure point.

From the Northern Virginia area and beyond, we have groups leaving from Silver Spring, MD, Dover, DE, Manassas, Culpeper, Woodbridge, Fredericksburg, and Richmond, VA, consolidating at Heritage Chevrolet in Chester, VA. From Chester, VA, we continue to Concord, NC where we will join the additional 470 participants for 3 days of Corvette enthusiast fun before we head to Bowling Green.

Bud Donner scouted out a good meeting spot on Rte.3. There's a Burger King on the south side of Rte.3 just opposite the entrance to Central Park in Fredericksburg (exit 130 East off I-95 South); They have a nice (empty this morning) parking lot directly behind the restaurant. It's convenient to traffic from both directions off I-95 and also anyone coming east or west on 3. There are three cars coming southbound from Woodbridge on I-95 and two coming from Culpeper on Rte.3 West - it would be good for us if we could meet you at the Burger King.

MapQuest says it takes 1:15 from Burger King to Heritage Chevrolet in Chester, and 4:00 from Heritage to our hotel in Concord. So our schedule would look something like this:

6:30 - Leave Woodbridge
7:30 - Arrive Fredericksburg, VA Burger King
7:45 - Leave Fredericksburg
9:00 - Arrive Heritage Chevrolet, Chester, VA
10:30 - Leave Chester on I-95 South, switch over to I-85 South
16:30 - Arrive Hampton Inn Concord, NC
17:30 - Party!

We plan to leave Heritage no later than 12:30pm. The hour we'll be in Chester allows some flexibility in case of traffic delays in Northern VA or the Richmond area.

One Acre Club Spotlight: Carolinas & Virginia Corvette Caravan
Article published by the National Corvette Museum

Corvette enthusiasts from the Carolina's & Virginia Corvette Caravan have committed to joining our "One Acre Club" as a part of their ongoing support for the National Corvette Museum. As one of the 29 caravan groups participating in the , members of this leg hail from various parts of North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. Their journey in the 2014 National event will begin in Concord, North Carolina and end in Bowling Green, Kentucky for fun Corvette festivities at the Museum.

Many of the Carolina's & Virginia Corvette Caravan participants are Lifetime Members of the Museum, and have participated in past Caravans and other Museum events. "We are very excited to be able to involve all of our members and participate in this project," said Caravan Captain Frank Sancineto. "We hope that our contribution will set a trend for other Caravan groups to do the same!"

The National Corvette Museum Caravans have become an integral part of today's Corvette culture. This nationwide caravan was organized in 1994 to celebrate the opening of the National Corvette Museum and again in 1999 to commemorate the NCM's 5th anniversary celebration. In 2003, a 3rd National Caravan was organized to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Corvette Marque. The 2009 National Corvette Caravan was held to celebrate the NCM's 15th Anniversary. The 5th National Caravan in 2014 will celebrate the Museum's 20th Anniversary and promises to be the largest caravan yet.
